Abstract:
As a part of NRG’s mission statement safety has the highest priority. To assure this mission statement outstanding safety management is of paramount importance, which is being achieved through a combination of a safety-management system and the company safety culture. NRG developed a management system which satisfies ISO-9001 as well as ISO-17025 and is based on ISO 14000. Where necessary our Management System has been further developed to fulfill the Nuclear Safety Requirements. The corporate procedures consist of flowcharts defining the tasks and responsibilities of all relevant processes and apply to all product groups. Where necessary independent control- or review activities and quality registrations are prescribed.
Since organisation culture aspects are essential layers of the defence in depth, NRG launched in 2003 an extended organisation improvement programme. This programme has the objective to transforming NRG from a technocratic institute into a human oriented learning organisation. An open learning attitude is pro-actively being stimulated by top management encouraging an environment in which all safety issues and the behaviour of all staff are being discussed openly.
